Frequently Asked Questions
A personal email from your mastering engineer. We listen to your mix in our mastering room and describe what stands out – with timestamps and suggestions on which methods could get you there, e.g. "freeze the bass to audio and even out the loud notes with clip gain".
You decide what to tackle in your mix and what you'd rather leave to mastering – both are completely fine.
A few real examples from recent feedback:
- Bass notes jumping in level: freeze the bass track and even out single notes with clip gain.
- Kick buried under the bass: lift around 60 Hz and bring out the transient with a transient designer.
- Kick competing with the vocal: tame the transient with a dynamic EQ at 400–900 Hz (attack at 0) – more depth in the kick, more room for the voice.
- Kick transient cut off at the start: re-export with a little air before the first hit.
As soon as possible – please allow up to 2 business days when our desk is full.
Yes – Mix Feedback is booked per track. Just set the quantity to the number of tracks, so each one gets our full attention.
Absolutely. Tell us what bothers you, and add a reference track if you like.
Of course – just reply to the email if anything is unclear. And if you book mastering with us afterwards and something in the revised mix still doesn't sit right, we'll get in touch with you before we master.
WAV only, no MP3, in the sample rate you mixed in. Please remove mastering plugins like Ozone or any limiter from your mix bus before exporting.
No. If you do, you'll receive a code with your feedback that deducts the Mix Feedback fee for one track from your first Stereo or Stem Mastering order with us.
Mix Feedback helps you get more out of stereo or stem mastering – especially if stem mastering or a full mixdown isn't in your budget right now.
